Meet Sergio, the founder and K9 Coach behind Harley and Sergio Dog Training. A retired Marine, Sergio’s journey into dog training began under the mentorship of Master Dog Trainer Nate Schoemer, a fellow Marine who recognized Sergio’s potential during a handler’s course with his service dog, Harley. With Nate’s guidance, Sergio discovered his passion—and never looked back.
Today, Sergio is not only a dedicated trainer but also an active competitor in the world of working dogs. He trains and competes in French Ring, Mondio Ring, and Dock Diving, always pushing himself to grow alongside his demo dogs. As a NePoPo® Silver School graduate, Sergio brings a balanced, modern training philosophy that blends motivation, clear communication, and proven techniques. He’s also working toward certification as a French Ring decoy, further expanding his expertise in dog sports.
Sergio’s passion for dogs, commitment to learning, and drive for excellence are at the heart of everything he does. Just like his dogs, he’s constantly evolving—refining his skills, deepening his knowledge, and helping clients build strong, lasting bonds with their dogs.
With a focus on teaching humans, training dogs, and growing together, Sergio leads with integrity, compassion, and a deep understanding of both the science and the art of dog training.
Jade, together with her husband Sergio Esquivel, co-owns Harley and Sergio Dog Training, fueled by a lifelong affection for animals. It was Sergio who unveiled the world of dog training to her, sparking an immediate and deep-seated passion. Her enthusiasm has only been amplified by her love for Harley and Teddy, and she's currently dedicating herself to nurturing and training Fozzie, the latest adorable member of the Harley and Sergio Dog Training team. While she plays a crucial role in overseeing the business's operations, Jade is simultaneously refining her expertise as a dog training apprentice.
Hey friends! Let’s give a big round of paws for Harley—the original, the legend, and the heart of Harley and Sergio Dog Training. Harley is the ultimate big sister and the one who started it all. Gifted to Sergio by fellow veteran Nate Schoemer, she’s not only his trusted service dog but also the seasoned demo dog who sets the standard for the entire team.
Harley is sweet, playful, and fiercely loyal, with a natural ability to read the room and lead with confidence. Whether she’s showing off training techniques or guiding the younger pups—Teddy, Fozzie, and Maple—Harley brings calm, clarity, and experience to every session.
She’s earned her Fetch Novice and Trick Novice titles and is currently working toward her Dock Diving titles, along with her Brevet in both French Ring and Mondio Ring. Versatile, driven, and always ready to work, Harley truly does it all—and with style.
As she continues to lead the pack, Harley is also stepping into a mentoring role, letting the next generation rise while she keeps everything running smoothly behind the scenes. We’re beyond proud of everything she’s accomplished and can’t wait to see her continue inspiring dogs and humans alike.
Meet Teddy, the spirited service dog in training who’s learning the ropes under Harley’s watchful eye. Bursting with energy and personality, Teddy brings enthusiasm to everything he does—whether he’s play-biting, wrestling with his packmates, or sprinting outside with a stolen shoe. But behind the mischief is a dog with serious drive and heart.
Teddy is a versatile and well-rounded athlete. He’s already earned his Brevet in French Ring, along with titles in AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC), Fetch Novice, and Trick Novice. He’s currently preparing to compete in French Ring I, training for his Brevet in Mondio Ring, and chasing Dock Diving titles.
With his strong work ethic and growing skill set, Teddy is rising fast. As Harley gradually shifts into a leadership role, Teddy is stepping up—ready to lead the pack and carry forward her legacy with his own unique spark.
Hey everyone! Meet Unstuffed Bear Du Poilu—but we just call him Fozzie. He’s the newest up-and-comer at Harley and Sergio Dog Training and well on his way to becoming our next star demo dog. Fozzie may start off shy, but hand him a tug toy and his confidence explodes. Playful, curious, and full of potential, he’s quickly finding his rhythm and growing into his role.
He’s currently working on his AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC), Trick Dog, and Fetch titles, while also training for his Brevet in both French Ring and Mondio Ring. Fozzie’s also diving into Dock Diving—literally—and loving every splash along the way.
We’re building a strong foundation, taking things slow and steady so Fozzie can grow into a confident, well-rounded dog ready to take on any challenge. His journey is just beginning, and we’re excited to see where it leads.
Say hello to Maple—the newest (and fluffiest) member of our team. This outgoing Doodle brings a burst of joy and energy everywhere she goes, and she’s already becoming a favorite around Harley and Sergio Dog Training.
Unlike her big brother Fozzie, Maple is a social butterfly from the start. She’s bubbly, fearless, and ready to make friends with everyone she meets. While she hasn’t quite caught on to tug just yet, she’s learning fast with the help of her older siblings.
Maple is currently training toward her AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC), Trick Dog, and Fetch titles, and she’s already making waves in Dock Diving. With her people-loving personality and gentle nature, we’re also guiding her toward becoming a certified therapy dog.
She’s a bright light with a big heart, and we can’t wait to watch her grow into her role and share her sweetness with the world.
